The 21-year-old joins on a season-long loan - although City have a January recall option - and goes straight into the Dons squad for their Europa League contest with Ventspils.
Burns was included in Wales’ Euro 2016 training squad but did not make the final 23 for France.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes, who handed Burns his Robins debut in his final match in charge, told afc.co.uk: “I am delighted to get him. Wes is a fantastic young talent who can play right across the front line. He has got a brilliant attitude and plenty of motivation to do well with us.
“I would like to thank Bristol City and Lee Johnson for their help in making the deal happen as Wes had plenty of options.”
Burns has made more than 50 first team appearances for the Ashton Gate club, but only a handful from the start, and has netted five goals. He impressed in a loan spell at Fleetwood last season, scoring five goals in 14 matches.

“I’ve spoken to the gaffer in pre-season and he says he’s already seen an improvement after the Fleetwood loan at the end of the last campaign. I’m hoping the Aberdeen move can help me even more.”
Head coach Johnson, the former Kilmarnock and Hearts midfielder, added: “Wes is very quick and that will make him stand out in Scotland.”
