Aberdeen: Reynolds, Pawlett in Scotland squad
ABERDEEN pair Mark Reynolds and Peter Pawlett have been called into the Scotland squad for this month’s friendly against Nigeria.
The former under-21 internationals were called up for the first time after four players pulled out of Gordon Strachan’s initial pool for the Craven Cottage clash on May 28.
The Scottish Football Association confirmed that Wigan pair James McArthur and Gary Caldwell are out along with West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans and Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher.
Defender Reynolds was Aberdeen’s player of the year while 23-year-old attacking midfielder Pawlett scored seven goals in the best season of his career.
Dons boss Derek McInnes told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted for both boys and it’ll be a great boost to them as well as an indication as to how much they have improved as players.
“I’m sure they’ll go on to do well and I’m confident this will be the first of many call-ups for both Mark and Peter.”
