Football shorts: Marcus Haber's season over for St Johnstone

St Johnstone's on-loan striker Marcus Haber is set to return to West Brom for rehabilitation after snapping his anterior cruciate ligament against Kilmarnock at McDiarmid Park on Saturday. The Canadian, 21, came on as a late substitute in the 3-0 defeat but lasted only a few minutes before collapsing to the turf. Scans have revealed Haber's season is over and Saints manager Derek McInnes said: "Our thoughts are with him."

Adams given fresh touchline ban

Ross County manager Derek Adams has been hit with another SFA ban that will stretch his time in the stands to a 18 games this season. Adams has been handed a four-match touchline suspension on top of his current six-match ban for his behaviour during September's Co-operative Insurance Cup 2-1 loss to Dundee United. The new suspension comes into force from Thursday.

Davids quits Palace after three months

Former Dutch international Edgar Davids has left Crystal Palace by mutual consent after less than three months with the club. Davids, 37, signed for Palace on a pay-as-you-play deal in August but had been limited to just seven appearances. Davids revealed on his official website: "I have decided my journey as a player at Crystal Palace has come to an end.

Fifa donation to shot Togo keeper

FIFA says it is giving $100,000 to Kodjovi Obilale, the Togo goalkeeper shot when terrorists attacked the team bus at the Africa Cup of Nations at Angola in January.

The French-based Obilale was liable for six-figure hospital bills after being shot twice in the back, injuring his spine and leg. He says he does not expect to return to football but hopes to one day walk again.

Talks continue to avoid Serie A strike

Talks have resumed to avoid a Serie A strike, with Italian Football Federation president Giancarlo Abete presiding over negotiations between the players' association and the league. Abete proposed to reopen talks on six issues, setting aside for now key clauses regarding transfers and out-of-contract players. A response from both sides is expected today, otherwise Abete may be forced to nominate a special commissioner to settle the issue.
