Football news in brief: McCallum signs new Dundee United deal

Dundee United goalkeeper Marc McCallum has signed a two-year contract extension which will tie him to the club until May 2014. The Scotland under-19 international has come through the ranks at Tannadice after joining United at under-12 level.

Manager Peter Houston told the club's website: "Marc is a tremendous prospect and someone we have high hopes for. He has shown me he has the right attitude."

Tevez ruled out of FA Cup semi-final

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez will miss tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley, manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed. The Argentine injured a hamstring in Monday's defeat to Liverpool at Anfield and is expected to be out until next month. "Tevez is not available for Saturday," Mancini said. "I think he will recover in three or four weeks."

Cole admits charge over Ghana tweet

West Ham's Carlton Cole has accepted a charge of improper conduct for comments he made on Twitter during England's game against Ghana. He tweeted: "Immigration has surrounded the Wembley premises! I knew it was a trap! Hahahaha. The only way to get out safely is to wear an England jersey and paint your face with the St George's flag!"

Wiss team expelled over irregularities

Tampere United, managed by ex-Hibs midfielder Jarko Wiss, have been expelled from all competitions by the Finnish FA after irregularities related to a marketing deal forced the start of the season to be delayed by a week. The FFA said Tampere had allowed Singaporean firm Exclusive Sport PTE Ltd to influence improperly the choice of players for certain matches as part of the deal.
