STIRLING Albion manager Jocky Scott has extended the trials of four players from the club's "So You Think You're Good Enough?" programme - but eight have been let go.

Earlier this summer, 39 players paid 200 each in the hope of winning a professional contract with the Second Division outfit, but only former Middlesbrough and Bradford goalkeeper Sam Filler, defensive duo Kevin McCann and John Crawley - back in Scotland after US football scholarships - and midfielder Paul Scott have reached the final phase.

ST MIRREN have signed Graham Carey from Celtic on a two-year deal, the Paisley club have confirmed.

The 22-year-old, who came through the Parkhead youth system, was on loan at the Buddies in the second half of the 2009/10 season and also had loan periods with Bohemians and Huddersfield Town. "I'm absolutely delighted to get another quality intelligent player into the club," said St Mirren manager Danny Lennon. "He is left-sided which gives us the necessary balance. Graham has cut the cord with a big club in Celtic."

ALLOA Athletic manager Paul Hartley has been busy in the transfer market again, making two new signings. Former St Mirren defender Mark Docherty and Nairn County striker Craig Campbell have moved to Recreation Park ahead of the new season.

Hartley has also named his captain, with ex-Aberdeen, Dunfermline, Dundee and Morton midfielder Darren Young getting the nod. "Darren is not only our most experienced player, he is a good leader," said the manager.

MIDFIELDER Scott McLaughlin has expressed his delight at being back in full-time football after joining Queen of the South on a one-year deal from Ayr United. The former Livingston and Morton playmaker has moved to the Doonhamers following a trial.

McLaughlin - who joins Stephen Simmons, Chris Higgins, Kevin Smith and Mark Campbell as manager Gus MacPherson's new recruits - said: "I have great memories from my time at Ayr but this was the chance to get back to full-time so that's a big factor."

MONTROSE have snapped up former East Stirling striker Scott Johnstone and ex-Arbroath and Clyde forward David McGowan after the pair impressed on trial. The duo, both 23, have featured in the Gable Endies' pre-season friendlies against Stenhousemuir and Forfar and have made a sufficient impact to be handed deals by manager Ray Farningham.

AIRDRIE United manager Jimmy Boyle has snapped up former Hibs and St Mirren midfielder Sean Lynch and striker Derek Holmes from Queen of the South.
