Fletcher looks to be leaving Hibs for Burnley

STRIKER Steven Fletcher today appeared to have moved a step closer to the English Premier League as it was reported Hibs have accepted a £3million bid from Burnley for the player.

The Scotland internationalist is understood to have travelled to Turf Moor for contract talks and a medical with the top-flight new boys.

The 22-year-old was also the subject of interest from Blackburn Rovers and Wigan.

If a move to Burnley can be agreed it is believed that Fletcher will at least treble the 3,000 a week that he is said to be earning at Easter Road.

With add-ons, the deal will be worth closer to 3.6m to Hibs if the player meets certain clauses in his contract in terms of appearances at domestic and international level.

If a deal is concluded, Fletcher would be in line to make his Premier League bow when Burnley face Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on 15 August.

Hibs boss John Hughes revealed yesterday that he had been on holiday in Florida when he received a phonecall from Clarets boss Owen Coyle enquiring about the hitman.
