Fleet of foot Billie Magern in fine form for Perth meeting

IF YOU are a fan of summer jumping you are in luck tomorrow and potentially the most exciting horse on show runs at Perth in the shape of Billie Magern.

A brother to the valiant Ollie Magern, the toteswinger Flexi Betting Novices' Chase is his destination after his emphatic success in a similar event here last week. That was over three miles, but the drop back to an extended two and a half will not be a hindrance judged on what he has done so far.

Seemingly blessed with plenty of toe, he made all last time to win as he liked and indeed could be unbeaten over fences if not for falling on his debut at Southwell. Clearly talented, it is also worth remembering his trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies does really well here.

Gordon Elliott is as bright a talent as there is in the training ranks and is another who makes it pay north of the Border on his frequent raids from Ireland. So keep an eye on his Nedzer's Return in the toteplacepot Maiden Hurdle as the three-time course-and-distance winner returns to the track. He notched up a hat-trick in April and May before suffering defeat when dropping back in trip at Kilbeggan last month. Elliott's Long Wait was also successful at Perth last week can repeat the dose in the toteexacta Flexi Betting Handicap Hurdle, although the assessor might have got a bit carried away in raising him 19lb. That said, he did win eased-down by 14 lengths so who knows how much more is in the locker.

Tom George's Island Flyer might be worth a small interest in the totetrifecta Flexi Betting Handicap Chase.

One a busy weekend for Scottish racing Hamilton Park holds another of its Super Seven fixtures this evening - a Family Night with Stars from X Factor.
