Watsonians will fly the flag for Capital cricket in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup after three other Edinburgh outfits were beaten on a day of shocks.

Grange Loan saw a last-ball finish as Carlton reached the last over requiring four to pass an Ayr target of 188. Steve Gilmour smacked the first delivery from Michael Papps for two but then was caught, leaving Ally Evans to hit a single to tie from three balls but in a frantic finish the fast bowler was run out.

Papua New Guinean teenager Legga Siaka top scored for Grange with 42 at Dunfermline but the league champions still fell 13 runs short of the Fifers' 193 target while Edinburgh Accies, from the Championship, saw a brave Cup run ended by a 42-run defeat.
