WE asked which of new flies you thought worked best.

Colin Thompson, Dunbar: "Tackle in general has come a long way but, despite the new kids on the block, some flies cannot be bettered and have stood the test of time."

Alan Muir, Tranent: "Some flies do work better than others but the likes of the Cat's Whisker and Bibio have taken more fish than any other newcomer. Although there are many variations, there has not really been a new fly invented that I know of. They are all based on an original."

Tony George, Corstorphine: "New patterns that are appearing are working but it is always the old tried and trusted flies that come out in the end."
