First Division: Raith Rovers return with a valuable point after tough test in Dingwall

Raith Rovers remain top of the First Division following a goalless draw up at Ross County. The division leaders may have lost their perfect record for this season in a game of few chances at Victoria Park, however manager John McGlynn was far from disappointed.

The Rovers manager said: "It's a good point against a good side at a difficult venue. We have kept a clean sheet and I am pretty pleased with our efforts."

It was a frustrating afternoon for County boss Derek Adams. "I could have guessed before the game that Raith would not be too adventurous. At times they had eleven men behind the ball and that made life really difficult, but fair play to them they got their point."

Dunfermline laid down a marker to Dundee in terms of their own promotion aspirations by defeating Gordon Chisholm's men 3-1. The Pars, who are now in second place, were two up at the interval courtesy of a Willie Gibson penalty on 18 minutes, given after Steven Bell was fouled, and then a second from Bell himself.

Gary Harkins headed the Dark Blues back into things six minutes after the break, however former Dundee striker Pat Clarke took advantage of hesitancy between goalkeeper Scott Fox and defender Eric Paton to seal the win with 12 minutes remaining.

Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre said: "We scored at important times. It has been a great start to the season and we just need to keep it going."

Dundee's wretched away form is troubling Chisholm who said: "Away from home I do not think we work hard enough and if you defend like we do you are going to concede goals."

Falkirk gave a start to striker Tam McManus against Queen of the South and he did not keep the home fans waiting long as he shot home from six yards after a Jason Marr cross had not been cleared. Paul Burns, who notched a hat-trick against East Fife last weekend, scored again to bring the teams level on the hour mark, however McManus made a good return a great one when he added Falkirk's second with 19 minutes to go.

Kenny Deuchar came on to replace McManus with eight minutes left and he added a third. There was also time for the visiting Bob Harris to be red-carded for handball and Carl Finnigan to miss the resulting penalty.

Falkirk boss Steven Pressley said: "That was a fantastic start for Tam and everyone is delighted for him. He is a bubbly character to have about the place and he played his part in a really good team performance."
