Finnigan joins Saints as McInnes captures sixth summer signing

ST JOHNSTONE have signed striker Carl Finnigan on a one-year deal.

The 24-year-old former Falkirk forward, who this week has been training with Saints, becomes manager Derek McInnes' sixth summer signing after the captures of Callum Davidson, David Robertson, Sean Higgins, Frazer Wright and David McCracken.

McInnes told the club's official website: "Our lack of goals last season was a problem and hopefully Carl can help us in that respect. Goals will have to come from all over the team, but I am confident Carl can weigh in with a few.

"He has SPL experience which is a help and we are looking forward to helping develop his career."

Meanwhile, McCracken believes he has returned to the SPL a better player as he bids to kickstart his career at St Johnstone. The central defender, 29, signed a two-year-deal with Saints earlier this week.

McCracken quit Dundee United in 2007 for a move south of the Border, where spells at Wycombe and MK Dons were followed by an unsuccessful switch to Brentford, which resulted in a loan move to Bristol Rovers last season. He is now hoping to put his time at Brentford behind him and resurrect his career with Saints.

He said: "I don't know what the issue was. Myself and another player were dragged off at half-time in the first game and that was pretty much it. I went there looking to kick on after being at MK Dons but I was just never given the chance. But I'm delighted to be back in Scotland and feel I can help Saints."
