Ferguson shines for Heriot's in victory over Perthshire

Former Scotland under-20 captain Cammy Ferguson impressed on his Heriot's debut last night as the club got their pre-season rugby campaign off to a winning start.

They defeated Premier Three outfit Perthshire eight tries to one at the police headquarters at Fettes in a match played over three periods of 20 minutes and it was the composed performance of stand-off Ferguson, who has moved to the Capital from Dundee HSFP, that pleased backs coach Mark Appleson most.

Ferguson, 23, was on Edinburgh's books as a youngster and has been a consistent performer at club level in recent years, ending in a call-up for the club international squad last season.

Other new signings Callum Mark (ex-Haddington) and Max Learmonth (ex-Watsonians) did well in the centre in their first matches as did Greig Walker on the wing.
