Fallon factor can lift Tillietudlem

KIEREN Fallon is proving to be a regular visitor to Scotland now he's back operating on a freelance basis, and the former champion jockey heads to Ayr this afternoon for a busy book of six rides, including three for Mick Channon and two for Jim Goldie.

The booking of Fallon on bottom weight Tillietudlem, a winner eight days ago, in the Miss Scotland 2010 Handicap particularly captures the punting imagination, and although the four-year-old will go off at cramped odds, Fallon is fancied to score on the Goldie runner.

Whipma Whopma Gate can gain a deserved second win of the term at Ayr. Although the handicapper refuses to relent, she showed her well-being at Nottingham last time with a fine second behind Four Kicks.

Despite having only won races with cut in the ground, she is versatile enough to comfortably handle the fast conditions at the Craigie course. Few would begrudge Declan Carroll's mare landing the williamhill.com Greyhound Derby – Watch Online Fillies' Handicap.

Meanwhile, Robin Bastiman has given Borderlescott the green light to contest the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot – and has not ruled out another crack at the Ayr Gold Cup.

The dual Nunthorpe winner ran his usual solid race in the Temple Stakes behind Kingsgate Native on Saturday when he finished third. Immediately after the race Bastiman was in favour of skipping a trip to Berkshire for an easier target, but has had a change of heart.

"He's been out in the paddock since the other day enjoying the nice weather," said Bastiman. "He's well, he's eaten up and it hasn't taken much out of him. He'll have to keep improving a bit. We've decided we're going to Royal Ascot, there isn't much else for him other than stepping him back up to six furlongs for a race at Newcastle, so I think we'll stick to five.

"All his races are planned out for him so hopefully he peaks again in August (for the Nunthorpe).

"He'll go for the King's Stand. We might as well, he was beaten on Saturday, but there is a bit more improvement in him."

Having been agonisingly touched off in the Ayr Gold Cup from a mark of 105 in 2006, it would be some effort if Borderlescott went close this year with a current rating of 114.

"The owners are from Scotland and it is every Scottish owner's dream to win the Ayr Gold Cup, but I don't know. Mind you the handicapper has dropped him 2lb!" added Bastiman. "It's just a thought, the Nunthorpe is his main aim, then after that we could run in that if they so wish."

• Main Aim will bid to claim Haydock's Timeform Jury Stakes on Saturday for the second year running after his eye-catching third at York two weeks ago.
