Falkirk 2 - 1 Partick Thistle

Falkirk secured their first win of the campaign in an entertaining 2-1 victory over Partick Thistle that left Jags manager Jackie McNamara musing over a run of four straight defeats.

The Bairns were quick out of the traps and the home fans were on their feet to celebrate the opening strike after eight minutes.

Stewart Murdoch won the ball in a sliding challenge with Jags goalkeeper Scott Fox and, after getting to his feet, eventually fed Farid El Allagui for the Frenchman to strike a close-range shot past Alan Archibald.

Out of nowhere, the visitors levelled nine minutes before the interval when Kris Doolan powered a 25-yard effort past Michael McGovern.

The Bairns restored their slim advantage 60 seconds after the restart when Kallum Higginbotham directed Murray Wallace's header into the net from close range from a Blair Alston corner.

The Jags were given a lifeline when referee Crawford Allan's far-side assistant James Burns awarded a penalty even though goalkeeper McGovern appeared to win the ball at the feet of Thomas Stewart but Doolan's left-foot shot missed the target.
