F1: Di Resta on high in Brazil

Bathgate’s Paul di Resta ended his rookie Formula One season with an impressive eighth position in his first outing in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The 25-year-old Scot, who started from 11th on the Interlagos grid, also helped ensure his Sahara Force India team clinched sixth position in the Constructors’ Championship.

Partnered by team-mate Adrian Sutil, the duo made sure the team finished the highest they ever have in the championship.

In the end they were only four points adrift of Renault in fifth. And Di Resta admitted he was delighted with his performances. “I feel quite relieved,” said Di Resta, who scored a total of 27 championship points to seal his position as top rookie this season.

Aussie Mark Webber led home a Red Bull 1-2 in Brazil ahead of his team-mate and double world champ Sebastien Vettel. McLaren’s Jenson Button finished third.
