Ex-Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha wanted by four clubs in Mexico

Pedro Caixinha's agent has revealed the Portuguese manager is set to return to Mexico.

The former Rangers manager is understood to have agreed a severance package with the Ibrox club which is expected to be signed off this week.

Caixinha was axed by Rangers last Thursday after a disastrous seven-month period at the club.

That hasn’t put off clubs in Mexico who are keen to land his services.

The 46-year-old is being linked with former club Santos Laguna, as well as Mexican heavyweights Guadalajara, Cruz Azul and Pumas.

His agent, Nuno Batista, said: “Yes, there has been contact from Mexican clubs, but we cannot talk to anyone until we reach agreement with Rangers.

“We are still trying to finalise the details with them and that is our priority for now.

“After that, we can analyse the offers that have come in both from clubs in Europe and elsewhere.

“We are not ruling anything out for now.

“Pedro has a great affection for Mexican football. He obviously worked there for a few years and did very well.

“He loves to work and get involved with a serious project and there are plenty of opportunities in Mexican football.”

Caixinha’s lawyers have been speaking to Rangers this week. The talks are understood to have been amicable and terms have been agreed.

Batista, meanwhile, has launched a defence of Caixinha’s Rangers imports from Mexico, Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera.

He said: “What happened with Pedro? That’s life in the football world. Carlos and Eduardo have both done very well for Rangers. Pedro’s exit had nothing to do with them.

“They have both being doing their job and are important members of the team. The problem was the media were looking for someone to blame and chose them.”
