English round-up: Crawley shock Derby with last-minute cup winner

Crawley winger Sergio Torres fired in a stoppage-time winner to knock npower Championship side Derby out of the FA Cup and hand the non-league side a maiden fourth-round tie at Torquay.

Miles Addison marked his first start after 12 months of injury by cancelling out Glasgow-born Craig McAllister's first-half opener with a 62nd-minute header. But Derby, who missed a penalty through Kris Commons, saw their hopes of a replay snuffed out in stoppage time when Torres converted Dean Howell's corner to put the Blue Square Premier side through.

Commons spurned the perfect chance to fire Derby ahead in the ninth minute when his tame penalty was saved by Michel Kuipers after the Dutch goalkeeper brought down Chris Porter. The Rams were punished 20 minutes later Kuipers sent down a huge clearance that caused chaos in the Derby box. The ball fell to McAllister who fired Crawley ahead.

Derby were back level after 62 minutes when Addison headed home a Commons free-kick, only for Torres to strike at the death.

• New Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell will be among the spectators for tomorrow's Carling Cup semi-final with Arsenal before beginning his attempt to rebuild the shattered confidence at Portman Road.

The former Derby and Wigan manager has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Championship club to replace Roy Keane and inherits a club languishing just three points above the relegation zone.

Promotion to the Barclays Premier League remains the target for the Suffolk club and Jewell is expected to deliver before his deal runs out in 2013.
