English Premiership round-up: Theo Walcott strike a message for watching Fabio Capello

Theo Walcott struck another timely reminder to watching England boss Fabio Capello as Arsenal edged to victory at Ewood Park.

Walcott, recalled by Capello this week for the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers, fired a stunning 19th-minute opener as the Gunners worked hard for the points.

Mame Diouf's 26th minute equaliser was the least Blackburn deserved before Andrey Arshavin won it in the 51st minute.

Cheslea 2, Stoke City 0

It did not rain goals at Stamford Bridge for a change but Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba still came up with two vital strikes to keep Chelsea's 100 per cent record intact at the top of the league. Malouda converted a first-half opportunity with his right foot and Drogba scored a second-half penalty. Chelsea even had the luxury of seeing Frank Lampard miss the tamest of first-half penalties.

Tottenham Hotspur 0, Wigan 1

Wigan put their horrendous start behind them with a smash-and-grab victory at Tottenham.Hugo Rodallega scored the winner ten minutes from time.

Blackpool 2, Fulham 2

Dickson Etuhu's late equaliser rescued a point for Fulham as top-flight football returned to Bloomfield Road after 39 years.

Bobby Zamora had headed Fulham into a first-half lead. Blackpool were rewarded when John Pantsil turned Luke Varney's shot into his own net with 19 minutes remaining and Varney then sent Blackpool's fans wild as he finished in style from 12 yards.

But as Bloomfield Road waited expectantly Etuhu equalised with three minutes left.

Wolves 1, Newcastle United 1

Newcastle's Andy Carroll cancelled out Sylvain Ebanks-Blake's opener for Wolves to earn a point.

Ebanks-Blake drove home a Jelle Van Damme centre to put Mick McCarthy's side ahead just before the break but Carroll struck just after the hour, heading home a Joey Barton free-kick.
