Elena Baltacha produces some Michigan magic

SCOTTISH number one Elena Baltacha reached the last four of the Dow Corning Classic in Midland, Michigan, with a 6-4 6-4 quarter-final win over Canada's Rebecca Marino.

The number three seed now faces Poland's Marta Domachowska (Poland), ranked 135, in the semi-finals.

Baltacha's recent form will see her climb to around 76 when the new rankings are announced tomorrow.

Swedish third seed Robin Soderling overcame Nikolay Davydenko of Russia 7-6 6-4 in the semi-finals of the World Indoor Tournament in Rotterdam yesterday.

Soderling won the first-set tie-break and a break in the ninth game of the second set was enough to give him the match.

He will face either top seed Novak Djokovic or Mikhail Youzhny in today's final.
