Edinburgh University to hold first Regatta

THE first-ever Edinburgh University Regatta will be held in April after a joint-sponsorship boost.

The inaugural event will see the Edinburgh University Boat Club compete against seven other UK universities in the first rowing event of its size north of the border.

Professional services firm, Deloitte, and leading UK bank, Barclays have jointly agreed to provide funding for the Regatta, which will take place in Strathclyde Park on Saturday, April 8.

Colin Gibson, a partner of Deloitte said: "We're committed to recruiting top talent from our universities and the Edinburgh University Regatta provides a perfect opportunity for us to raise awareness of the career opportunities we have at Deloitte."

Rikki Grifiths, head of business banking at Barclays Scotland, added: "We're delighted to support this unique event."

Carolyn Wilson, president of the Edinburgh University Boat Club, said: "We are very excited about staging an event of this size."
