Edinburgh teams embark on survival missions

HOCKEY: Survival is the name of the game for Edinburgh sides CALA and Inverleith as they are both in the relegation zone of the Subway indoor national league as the competition enters the second phase this weekend.

This is Inverleith's first season in the top flight, but a 4-4 draw with CALA and a narrow 3-2 victory over Clydesdale have realised a valuable four points. A similar result against Clydesdale would be ideal for Inverleith's top flight status.

Kelburne and CALA go head to head in the opening fixture of the day. CALA will hoping to build on their present seven points by taking the points off struggling Clydesdale in their second match.

In the top pool Dundee Wanderers are in pole position for the first time in their history and face Milne Craig Western in the game of the day.

Champions Grove have a lot to do to hold on to their crown and only six points against Western and their own second string will keep them in contention.
