Edinburgh confirm clubhouse switch plan for supporters

EDINBURGH have confirmed that they are hopeful the dispute over their being ejected from the old clubhouse facility within Murrayfield could be resolved with a move to Murrayfield Wanderers' clubrooms next month

The SRU took the decision this week that the "President's Suite", which had been a popular clubhouse for Edinburgh fans to mingle before and after games, would no longer be available, due to an extensive and expensive refurbishment.

Some supporters have been unhappy with the alternative Rowan Suite, on the third floor of the North Stand but Edinburgh chief executive Craig Docherty confirmed that he was hopeful of striking a deal with Murrayfield Wanderers, as reported in yesterday's Scotsman.

Docherty said: "We're excited about what Murrayfield Wanderers have to offer, and are seeking as quick a resolution as possible so that our supporters can begin to enjoy the facilities.

"Providing final agreement is reached, we anticipate being able to welcome supporters to the clubhouse for the Magners League match against Benetton Treviso on Friday 5 November. Our intention in the interim would be to undertake refurbishment work in the clubhouse to ensure it becomes an atmospheric environment for our fans. I'd like to once again put on record my appreciation of the supporters' on-going patience and co-operation.

The Rowan Suite and Murrayfield hospitality boxes will be in use for the next home match, the Heineken Cup game against Northampton Saints on 16 October (1.30pm), and "Premium" season ticket holders will have use of the boxes for the remainder of the season.
