Edinburgh City eye fourth

Edinburgh CITY can climb up to fourth place in the Central Taxis Premier Division if they beat Capital rivals Tynecastle at Meadowbank Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).

However, City also have one eye on the SFA South Region Challenge Cup semi-final away to Threave Rovers this Saturday so joint managers John Green and Gary Jardine will try and juggle resources as they target victories in both games.

"In an ideal world we would rather not have had this game tonight because, with our game last weekend being postponed, our previous meeting with the players was last midweek when we beat Whitehill Welfare 3-1," said Green. "There has been no opportunity for coaching or training although it is the same situation for all the teams." In three meetings between the teams this season, both clubs have won a cup tie each while the earlier league encounter finished 3-3. "I regard both City and Tynecastle as capable of finishing in the top six but if we were to win tonight we would go eight points ahead of Tynecastle," added Green. "I expect another tight game."

Tynecastle player/coach David Bingham said: "We have the Image Printers Cup Final against Spartans in ten days to consider. Tonight is a chance for our players to cement their place in the cup final side."

City hope to have Robbie Ross fit while Grant Vanson is available and Shaun Harrison could earn a place on the bench after injury. Tynecastle have injury doubts over Robbie Arthur and Darren Aird.
