Edinburgh athletes enjoying success in US

In what is rapidly becoming a vintage indoor season for Capital middle distance men, two US-based college athletes, Chris O'Hare and Kris Gauson (both Edinburgh AC), have improved their best times for the 800 metres in pulling off impressive double victories.

O'Hare (Tulsa), who recently ran a remarkable 3min 56.48sec mile indoors, won the mile in 4:07.86 at the Conference US Indoor Championships in Houston, Texas, and 90 minutes later took the 800m in 1:51.06, a personal best by nearly a second.

Meanwhile, in Ohio, Kris Gauson (Butler) ran the 800m in 1:51.40 and took the mile in 4:07.86 in a Horizon League meeting.

O'Hare, still only 20, is ranked third in the mile going into next week's NCAA Indoor Championships, the climax of the US indoor season, and is looking forward to bidding for a medal despite being up against some much more mature runners.
