Edinburgh Academy beat the weather

The Division Cross Country Championships were closely contested at Edinburgh Academy despite the wet and muddy conditions.

Atticus Melvin Farr just held off Lorne Scott Dempster in a close finish to the boys under-13 race while Jack Gordon was a very impressive winner in the boys under-15 event.

In the under-17 section Donald Inwood won, with John Smyth in second place. GP Franchi won the boys open for the third year running.

The girls' open race was won by Sarah Grant just ahead of Madeleine Bambridge - who finished first in the under-17 section - and Florence Russell, who was first in the under-15 event, was third. Jasmine Banks was the first under-13 finisher ending up overall ninth in the open race.
