Eastwood prove too strong for Hillhead

CRICKET: Eastwood High School's cricketers brushed aside Hillhead High School in the Scottish Schools under-15 Cup at Shawholm to progress to the next round.

The experienced Eastwood side took advantage of some erratic bowling from the toiling Hillhead youngsters to carve out an exceptional total of 185 from the allocated 20 overs.

In reply Hillhead could only muster 32 runs, falling short by some considerable distance after some miserly bowling from the Eastwood attack.

The competition continues throughout the summer term.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh Academy pupil Zander Muir and George Watson's College's Chris Cash shared in a 218-run partnership to help the Eastern Academy defeat Carlton II on Sunday.

The two 16-year-olds hit 128 and 87 not out respectively in the nine-wicket win for the youngsters in East One.
