East Women are faultless

East tennis women are on course for Division Three of the AEGON inter-county championships after a convincing 8-1 victory over Nottinghamshire.

Once again Mhairi Brown and Emma Devine provided a strong lead with three straight-sets wins conceding only a handful of games overall.

Unbeaten East wrap up their campaign today against struggling Northumberland, while their male counterparts battle for survival in Group Two.

For the third successive day East lost, by 5-4 to South Wales, in a match which hinged on two third set tie-break losses and they now face promotion favourites, Norfolk.

n TOP seed Scott Lister was beaten in straight sets by Patrick Baker, who now meets Neil Harden in today's semi-final of the East Lothian Open at North Berwick. The other semi is between Lloyd Greatorex-Watson and Michael Fairburn.

The top four ladies seeds - Hannah Watson, Suzanne Dickson, Kirsty Venter and Zoe Henderson - won through.
