East Stirlingshire 1 - 0 Buckie Thistle: Feisty Buckie players fall out and then crash out

EAST Stirlingshire left it late to earn a Scottish Cup fifth-round tie at home to Brechin City, but the big talking point was the dismissal of Buckie Thistle striker Ian Murray, who appeared to strike his team-mate Graeme Stewart midway through the match after an angry exchange between the pair.

Despite a brave display from the Highland League champions the bizarre red card ultimately proved costly as Shire's Kevin Cawley struck two minutes from the end. The night had started badly for Buckie as they took the field in borrowed East Stirling away tops of red and blue stripes that did not compliment their green shorts and socks after referee Anthony Law decided their specially created white away kit clashed with the black and white hoops of their hosts.

After an uneventful first half Murray and Stewart came together in their own half and after they had been separated by team-mates, Law consulted with one of his assistants before showing Murray a red card and Stewart a yellow. Scott Johnston and Craig Donaldson tried to take advantage of the Shire's numerical superiority at the start of the second half, but their efforts cleared the bar. Just when thoughts were turning to a replay, however, Kevin Main spilled a Fraser Team cross and Cawley pounced to fire home from eight yards.
