East of Scotland: Tynecastle beat Edinburgh City in extra time

Tynecastle progressed to the quarter-finals of the East of Scotland League Cup with an extra-time 5-4 victory against Capital rivals Edinburgh City after the sides drew 3-3 in normal time thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser from Tynecastle's Wayne McIntosh.

Tynecastle led 2-0 with goals from John Williams and McIntosh before City went 3-2 ahead with strikes from Ryan Wilson, Andy Howat and Peter Stenhouse, then came McIntosh's late equaliser. In extra-time Dean Knight and Paul Devlin netted for Tynecastle while Wilson notched his second for City.

Preston Athletic also advanced with a 2-1 scoreline thanks to two own goals against Vale of Leithen who responded through John Hall.

Spartans were too strong for Whitehill Welfare and won 5-2 thanks to goals from Keith McLeod, Robbie Manson, Omar Kader, Ross Archibald and Dean Hoskins while Whitehill's goalkeeper Youssef Bejaoui scored from 70 yards along with Ross Allum.

Heriot Watt University beat Selkirk 2-1 with goals from Brendan Napier and an own goal. Civil Service Strollers won 4-1 against Kelso United, Leith Athletic overcame Gala Fairydean 2-0 and Lothian Thistle defeated Gretna 2008 by 3-1.
