East of Scotland: Sending-off fails to halt Stirling University charge

Stirling University kept the pressure on Central Taxis Premier Division leaders Spartans with a 4-2 win against Lothian Thistle despite playing with 10 men after Callum Scott was sent off. Lee Nichol, Emmot Parr-Gallagher, Darren Dalrymple and Danny Denholm netted for Stirling while Lothian replied through Craig Stewart and Jim Young.

Edinburgh University remain undefeated after a 1-1 draw away to Vale of Leithen. Colin Cameron scored for Edinburgh and Andy Milligan for Vale.

Whitehill Welfare came from behind to defeat Tynecastle 2-1. Dale O'Hara gave Tynecastle the lead before Ross Allum equalised. Daryl Devlin put Whitehill ahead from the penalty spot although the same player missed a second penalty later in the game.

In the SFA South Region Challenge Cup, Spartans beat Gala Fairydean 2-1 with goals from Chris Townsley and Gavin Malin. Jamie Gibson netted for Gala. Civil Service Strollers advanced with a 2-0 win against Leith Athletic thanks to strikes from Alan Wilson and Ross Miller. Edinburgh City beat Easthouses Lily 5-2 with a hat-trick from Darren Moonie and goals from Andy Howat and Joe Dingwall. Coldstream beat Selkirk 2-1 with Acraf Chbira and Lee Zavaroni on target. Des Sutherland scored from the penalty spot for Selkirk.
