East of Scotland: City sides to contest final

Edinburgh City and Spartans, the two Capital clubs, will contest the SFA South Region Challenge Cup final after both sides recorded semi-final victories. City made the journey to Castle Douglas to face South of Scotland League leaders Threave Rovers and won 2-0, thanks to goals from Ruaraidh Scott and James Elliot.

Paul Doohan put Vale of Leithen ahead from the penalty spot in the second minute against Spartans before goals from Alex King, Ross Archibald and Gavin Malin settled the matter for the Edinburgh side.

In the Central Taxis Premier Division, Civil Service Strollers eased their relegation troubles with a 4-1 win over Selkirk and Heriot-Watt University recorded a 3-2 success against Lothian Thistle. Preston Athletic held Edinburgh University 0-0 and Tynecastle beat Whitehill Welfare 2-0.

In the First Division, Leith Athletic drew 2-2 with Easthouses Lily, while Gretna 2008 beat Ormiston 2-0.
