Early strike enough to keep Bo'ness cup dream alive

Bo'ness United made it to the last eight of the Scottish Junior Cup, scoring the only goal after 15 minutes.

Will Snowdon played a throw to Andy Shirra, who gave the ball back, and Snowdon cut inside to unleash a terrific angled shot into the far corner of the net from the outside edge of the box.

Bo'ness continued to look the better side and went close with a Shirra volley that just whistled over the bar.

Petershill's best effort came when a Paul McLeod shot from the edge of the box was tipped over by Bo'ness keeper Jordan Longmuir.

John Fraser benefited from a poor Petershill clearance but his volley from the edge of the box went over.

Petershill started the second half well as Alan Lindsay's shot from twenty yards hit the Bo'ness post.

Richie Burke also came close with a run into the box but he was pressurised into shooting straight at Longmuir.

The home side hit the woodwork once again, but Stephen McGladrigan should have done better with a chance from eight yards out.

It was Bo'ness, however, who finished this tie stronger.

Bo'ness substitute Ross Hamilton lobbed just over the Petershill bar and just before the whistle a Chris McFadyen shot from six yards was deflected past the post.
