Dundee HSFP 20 - 37 Glasgow Hawks

GLASGOW Hawks kept their title ambitions alive with typically gritty performance that earned a valuable bonus point and praise from coach Peter Wright.

Tries from Craig Gossman, Kris Hamilton, Ross Miller and Grant Strang, with four conversions and three penalties nudged over by Mike Adamson, finally saw off a spirited Dundee side.

The Mayfield men had contributed in spades to an entertaining game but, ultimately, they were undone in the second half by the sin-binning of centre Harry Duthie.

Richie Hawkins, Stewart Coleman and Matt Smith had all crossed the line for Dundee, and Jamie Urquhart had added a penalty and single conversion, to level the score at 20-20 at the break

But the Glasgow men capitalised on their numerical advantage after the yellow carding of Duthie by pulling away to a 10-point lead early in the second period, and completed the victory with the last play of the match.

The home side had pummelled Hawks in chasing the game but the visitors displayed considerable resilience.

"Dundee is one of the hardest places to visit, so to come away with a bonus point is superb," said Wright.

"Our defence in the last 20 minutes was pleasing and the try with the last touch of the ball was the icing on the cake."
