Dumfries determined to rekindle winning habit against Renfrew

Another loss would certainly blow the title race wide open, however Johnstone insisted there was no panic in the Nunholm camp ahead of the trip to Clydeside.

He said: "It was a disappointing result last weekend, but we know where we went wrong and we know what to do about it.

"We didn't score enough runs at the required rate at a crucial stage and we paid the price.

"Winning is a habit and we had got into that habit in the first half of the season. And there is no doubt in my mind that the guys will go to King George V Playing Fields with a high level of confidence, based on what we achieved before the Ferguslie game."

Johnstone added: "We are aware that Renfrew have been performing strongly and that they have three or four batsmen who can dominate when given the opportunity.

"We also know that conditions at their place are different from our ground, however we don't expect that to be an issue. We have a bowling attack full of variety and we bat far down the order."

The president went on to confirm that Dumfries will be sending a full-strength squad up the M74.

West Lothian are the club who stand to benefit from events at Renfrew. They lie handily in third place and will start as favourites to get the better of Freuchie at Linlithgow.

Elsewhere, it is Kelburne's turn to deal with Jon Kent. The South African former Saltires star whacked a marvellous century for SMRH against Freuchie last weekend, only his second appearance since returning to these shores.

Having proved he has instantly adapted to the Scottish wickets, he will be keen to keep up the momentum at Whitehaugh and the duel with local professional David Harper promises to be intriguing.

Ferguslie should also remain in a positive frame of mind for the visit of Weirs, while RH Corstorphine will be anxious to show they have at last shaken off their run of wretched form by beating Imans Edinburgh at Inverleith.
