Dumbarton 0-5 Motherwell: McCall is happy with respectful Mothwerwell

Stuart McCall was pleased with the Steelmen's attitude towards their friendly with Second Division Sons after warning his side not to treat the game as an exercise.

"I told the players before the match that not only would we treat Dumbarton with respect, but play to our maximum and, to their credit, they carried that out," said McCall.

"We were well on top, but in saying that, (Motherwell keeper] Lee Hollis has had to make some tremendous saves early on. When we settled down we played some neat stuff."

Motherwell's day was made by a Jamie Murphy double and goals from Nicky Law, Robert McHugh and Steven Saunders.

"He (new arrival Law] has very good ability going forward and he'll create plenty of chances," added McCall. "The last two seasons he has been named in the League 2 team of the year and has had the most assists, but for his ability he should be getting more for himself."
