Dumbarton boss Alan Adamson was last night furious with referee John Beaton for failing to spot a potential game-changing professional foul as Dundee ran out 4-0 winners at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium.

With the visitors one ahead, Sons' Bryan Prunty ran through on goal and was pulled back by Dens defender Craig McKeown, but the official failed to punish McKeown, or award a free-kick. Adamson said: "I thought the game hinged on that decision and there were certainly not four goals in the game. The least we should have had was a free-kick."

Barry Smith's men were the more clinical and, just three minutes after the interval, Steven Milne pounced on a Leighton McIntosh flick-on to open the scoring. Then came the incident with Prunty on the hour, before Jamie McCluskey scored a terrific solo effort when he danced past three challenges to fire home.

Milne scored his second to make it 3-0 in 73 minutes after running on to a superb pass by Ryan Conroy and, in 84 minutes, Matt Lockwood rounded off the scoring from the penalty spot.
