Double joy for Scots in Adelaide Test Series

BOWLS: Paul Foster claimed a golden double by lifting the men’s pairs with his world championship winning partner Alex Marshall MBE before taking the singles title at the Adelaide Test Series at Holdfast Bay.

In front of a sell-out crowd, the pairs final saw reigning world indoor champions Foster and Marshall take on Australians Leif Selby and Nathan Rice.

The Scots started strongly, winning the first two ends to lead 3-0 before the Aussies hit back and raced into an 11-6 lead after thirteen ends. The Scots then scored four in the penultimate end to tie the match before Marshall’s excellent final bowl won it.

In the singles, Foster dominated the competition all week before finishing in style. In the final against home favourite Brett Wilkie, he rushed to a 9-3 lead before the gap was closed to 10-7. Foster then increased his lead to 17-9 and, at 19-13 up, he played an immaculate end leaving Wilkie with little chance with his last bowl before scoring a double to seal the match 21-13.
