Diary: Suez crisis for Abdessalam Benjelloun

FORMER Hibs striker Abdessalam Benjelloun has been axed by Egyptian club Ismaily after just six months.

The Moroccan, who scored twice in Hibs' 2007 League Cup win, ended a four-season spell at Easter Road in May and signed a deal with the Suez Canal-based club. But has failed to break into the first team. Assistant manager Ahmed Qenawy said: "Benjelloun only played a few minutes, and failed to make a big impact. He joined us on a free transfer, but he earns a big salary. We won't let him go for free, but we will await offers."
