Destiny calls

DATE With Destiny, the only offspring of the ill-fated George Washington, worked at Richard Hannon's Marlborough yard for the first time yesterday as she nears a racecourse debut. Julie Wood spent 320,000 guineas for the yearling last autumn and the juvenile is pleasing connections.

Her sire returned to the track after being retired to stud following his 2,000 Guineas and QEII Stakes victories in 2006, but had to be destroyed after breaking a leg at the 2007 Breeders' Cup meeting.
