Derby hope Rewilding looks part at Goodwood

REWILDING provided a shot in the arm for Godolphin's Investec Derby hopes at Goodwood yesterday after he quickened four lengths clear under Frankie Dettori in the bluesquare.com Cocked Hat Stakes.

Transferred from Andre Fabre to Sheikh Mohammed's second British trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni two weeks ago, the Tiger Hill colt needs supplementing at a cost of 75,000 for the Classic and is just 10-1 with Coral and Ladbrokes.

The even-money favourite for his British debut, Rewilding travelled conservatively for Dettori and settled matters when kicking on over a furlong out. He is Godolphin's first winner of the race since Dubai Millennium in 1999, with Troy some 20 years earlier the only horse to follow up at Epsom.

Godolphin racing manager, Simon Crisford, said: "Frankie was very pleased with him."
