Deal double for Edinburgh and Glasgow

BOTH Edinburgh and Glasgow announced new commercial deals yesterday, with property marketing firm ESPC teaming up with Edinburgh and land management company Greenbelt joining forces with Glasgow.

Edinburgh will get marketing support through ESPC’s contacts list, website and weekly property paper, which reach more than 600,000 people in Edinburgh the Lothians and Fife.

Edinburgh chief executive, Craig Docherty, said: “I’m delighted to welcome such an established and high-profile Edinburgh brand as ESPC to the suite of Edinburgh Rugby partners.

“The agreement which will add significant promotional and marketing weight to our efforts to spread the word about Edinburgh Rugby.”

ESPC marketing manager Neil Harrison added: “As two local businesses there is great scope for us to work together.

“With the changes made for the upcoming season in terms of the matchday experience at Murrayfield we’re sure that more and more people are going to be coming along.”

Greenbelt, whose HQ is on Firhill Road, near Glasgow’s match venue at Partick Thistle FC, are described as the only UK-wide company that owns and manages greenbelt land formed as part of new housing developments. They manage environmental, horticultural, forestry, wildlife, drainage, play and leisure facilities.

Glasgow has also recently joined forces with The Famous Grouse and business insurance specialist QBE.

Kenny Baillie, the Warriors chief executive, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Greenbelt as an official sponsor. They’re a company with a great presence throughout the UK and also strong links to Glasgow and the west of Scotland, and we’re delighted they’ve chosen to support their local team.”

Alex Middleton, the Greenbelt chief executive, said: “With the help of the club and their players, we will be encouraging our customers to go along to Firhill to support the club in the coming season.

“We are keen to promote our name as a company which supports sport and its benefits in the community. With Glasgow Warriors based next door to our main office, we feel it natural to be supporting the club.”
