David Patrick on course for title defence

David Patrick edged in front during the second round of the Scottish Young Professionals' championship at West Lothian yesterday.

The defending champion, who formed part of a three-way tie at the top after the first round, posted a one-under 70 for a one-under 141 to finish a stroke ahead of Ranfurly Castle's Andrew McIntyre, who moved into the hunt with a 69.

Scott Herald and Terry Mathieson share third spot on 143 while Greg McBain sits in sixth on 146 after a 71. Gareth Wright hit a 73 to share 22nd with Heather MacRae on 153 but Oliver Huish missed the cut.
