Dates clash for Scots golf

FOR the second year running, the Cleveland Golf/Srixon Scottish Senior Open is set for an unfortunate clash with the Scottish Ladies Open when the two events return to familiar venues this summer.

Last year, there was only a one-day crossover but it will be two on this occasion, with the ladies' event at Archerfield Links being held on 18-20 August and the Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews staging the seniors' tournament on 19-21 August.

Each event will still be hopeful of attracting decent galleries to see Virginie Lagoutte-Clement and Barry Lane defend their respective titles.

"We are looking at our best season to date, with a number of contractual discussions ongoing that will add new tournaments to an extremely strong schedule," said Andy Stubbs, the Tour's managing director.

The Senior Open Championship moves to England this year, the 25th edition of the event being at Walton Heath in Surrey for the first time on 21-24 July.
