Danny Galbraith signs new Hibs deal, while Francis Dickoh is cleared

Hibernian have received a double boost as Danny Galbraith signed a new contract and Francis Dickoh won his wrongful dismissal claim.

Former Manchester United youngster Galbraith has signed a deal which ties him to Easter Road until the summer of 2013. And Dickoh is free to play in Sunday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at St Mirren after his red card against Kilmarnock was overturned.

The Ghanaian defender was sent off by Steve Conroy when he conceded a penalty for a challenge on Kieran Agard during Hibernian's 2-1 home win on Saturday. The alleged offence was missed by Conroy, who only awarded the spot-kick after it was brought to his attention by assistant Keith Sorbie. A furious Dickoh protested he had won the ball before bringing down Agard and the Scottish Football Association upheld his appeal.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Galbraith is keen to repay manager Colin Calderwood for handing him the extended contract.

The Galashiels-born winger told www.hibernianfc.co.uk: "I'm really pleased to have signed a new contract with Hibernian and now I want to repay the manager and also show the fans what I am capable of on a regular basis. It gives you a boost when you get recognition from the manager and I'm really excited about what I can achieve at Hibernian."

Galbraith started his career off on the books of Hearts, but was snapped up by Manchester United, and although he reached the FA Youth Cup final, his time at Old Trafford was blighted by injury. When he was freed by Sir Alex Ferguson, he was brought to Hibs by John Hughes, and although he scored the winner in a memorable win at Celtic Park, he saw his appearances limited to a handful. This season has seen him break into the team as a regular and he is delighted to have won a new deal. "It gives me the time to keep progressing and developing," he said. "Hibernian is the best place for me to be and I'm grateful to the club for giving me a chance to rebuild my career after my injury problems. I just want to build on what I've achieved and to help the club compete at the highest level."

Calderwood added: "Danny has impressed me with both his ability and his work ethic; he is determined to improve. That desire to learn and to develop bodes well for his future and also for Hibernian. He is a valued member of the squad and has already shown he is a match-winner."
