Dalmahoy to mark centenary by staging 2027 Scottish PGA Championship

Kirknewton venue is synonymous with Arnold Clark PGA in Scotland Tartan Tour’s flagship event

Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club is set to celebrate its centenary in style next year when the Kirknewton venue welcomes back the Ramsdens Currency Scottish PGA Championship.

The Arnold Clark PGA in Scotland Tartan Tour’s flagship event was first held at Dalmahoy back in 1931, when the coveted title was claimed by Englishman Mark Seymour.

It then returned for a five-year stretch between 1981 and 1985, producing decorated champions of the calibre of Brian Barnes, Bernard Gallacher and Sam Torrance.

Attracting huge crowds at the time, the tournament was held again at Dalmahoy in 1993, when Torrance claimed the crown for a fifth time.

Andrew Coltart then triumphed the following year before Colin Gillies and Brian Marchback landed title triumphs in 1995 and 1996 respectively. In the most recent visit in 2024, Graeme Robertson, one of the circuit’s current stars, stormed to a six-shot success.

Next year’s event will be held from August 31 to September 3 and Craiig Waddell, Dalmahoy’s Director of Golf, and David Longmuir, the PGA in Scotland regional manager, are delighted about the announcement.

“Dalmahoy has a rich history of hosting this excellent event, which we staged for the first time in 1931. We have also been lucky enough to yield some excellent winners over the years including players such as Sam Torrance, Brian Barnes, Bernard Gallacher and Andrew Coltart,” said Waddell.

“The decision to return the Scottish PGA Championship to Dalmahoy in 2024, was a very popular one and we were treated to some great golf as well as a worthy winner in Graeme Robertson.

“In 2027, Dalmahoy celebrates its 100th year and we have some exciting plans for our members and guests. To also host the prestigious Scottish PGA Championship is the icing on the cake for what will be a fantastic year for us.

“We are delighted to be working alongside The PGA to ensure that Dalmahoy puts on a memorable Championship for all involved”

The Scottish PGA Championship will highlight another bumper year of events on the Arnold Clark Tartan Tour, with Wilson Golf becoming title sponsor of the Scottish Young Professionals’ Championship at Crieff for 2027.
