Cycling: Paul leads in Bremen with Skinner third

City of Edinburgh cyclists John Paul and Callum Skinner made an excellent start to the gruelling sprint programme at the Six Days of Bremen Track Meeting in Germany, with both ending the first night in the top three.

The duo combined with Welshman Lewis Oliva to take the honours in the team sprint ahead of the German trio, Sebastian Doehrer, Erik Balzer and Philipp Tihele.

And, for 19-year-old Paul, the individual events were equally successful as he produced
a string of excellent performances to end the opening night’s racing with an advantage of three points over Doehrer, with Skinner a further point adrift in third place.
