Cycling: McCallum out to shine in Super Six

Lothians cyclists will be in action on both sides of the Border on Sunday as the road racing season reaches a key point.

Following his exploits in the Halfords Tour Series in Peterborough and Colchester earlier this week, James McCallum will be back on home soil bidding for a third successive victory in the Scottish Power Renewables Super Six Series. Round four of the competition is incorporated into the David Bell Memorial Road Race, with the tough 72-mile course featuring two sections of off-road racing.

McCallum faces a new foe in the shape of English teenager George Atkins, who won silver at last year's Commonwealth Games and has now signed for Velo Ecosse. Another contender will be Callum Wilkinson of Endura, whose team-mate Evan Oliphant is in the line up for the 112.5-mile Ryedale Grand Prix in Yorkshire - a round of the British Cycling Premier Calendar Series. Oliphant is joined on the trip south by a strong squad from the Endura/Pedal Power Development Team that includes Gary Hand, David Lines and Robbie Hassan.
