Cycling: McCallum out for a repeat in Yorkshire

Cyclists from the West Lothian-based Endura Racing Team will begin a busy weekend in the saddle when they line up at the British Criterium Championships in Yorkshire tonight.

Looking to repeat the success he recorded in impressive fashion three seasons ago will be Capital rider James McCallum. Lining up alongside the Commonwealth Games medallist in the 80-minute event over a 1.25 kilometre circuit in Beverley's cobbled town centre will be Evan Oliphant. He was the leading Scot last year when he finished 17th behind Russell Downing (Team Sky). The duo will have the support of fellow Scots Gary Hand and Davie Lines, as well as former world track champion Rob Hayles and another Englishman Ian Wilkinson, who has been Endura's top performer in circuit races this season.

Oliphant and Wilkinson will be back in action on Sunday for the East Yorkshire Classic over a tough 98-mile route. They will be joined by rising Lothians star Callum Wilkinson and two of Endura's overseas stars in the shape of Frenchman Alexandre Blain and New Zealand road race champion Jack Bauer.

The race is the latest round of the British Cycling Premier Calendar Series.
