Cycling: McCallum in Trossachs bid

CAPITAL cyclist James McCallum heads the challenge of the Endura Racing Team in Sunday's Sam Robinson Memorial Road Race which starts in Balfron and covers a picturesque route around the Trossachs.

The Commonwealth Games medallist defends the title he won in a tight finish last season. On that occasion he edged out Ross Creber, who has subsequently become a team-mate.

Also in the line up are their colleagues, in-form Callum Wilkinson, who acquitted himself well at the Rhone Alpes Isere Tour in France last week, and Evan Oliphant, who posted a fine win at the Drummond Trophy earlier this month.

Endura will face tough competition in the 80-mile event that is the third race in the Scottish Super Six Series. Back from his duties on the Asian circuit with the Giant Racing Team is Alex Coutts, while there will also be strong competition from England, including British hill climb champion Dan Fleeman of Team Raleigh.
