Cycling: Cullen makes comeback

Capital cyclist Kate Cullen was due back in the saddle this afternoon for her first competitive outing since coming to grief during last month's National Road Race Championships in Lancashire.

Cullen received medical treatment at the scene of the crash and there were concerns that she had sustained a broken leg.

However, the injury subsequently proved to be severe bruising and she has battled back to fitness in time to line up in a five-strong Scotland team at the Tour du Limousin in France.

Among her colleagues in the four-day race which was due to start with a 188 kilometre haul from Lissac to Brive is Anne Ewing, the Edinburgh RC rider who is a doctor and was among those who offered aid to Cullen after the crash.

Also in the squad are Edinburgh's British Masters champion Claire ThomasEileen Roe - a colleague of Cullen at Team Moving Ladies in Holland - and Scottish road race champion Jane Barr.
